Description
Integrating psychodynamic therapy with body-based somatic practices, mindfulness exercises, art therapy, and neurobiological research, I provide individuals with many pathways to healing and strengthening their sense of self and worth. My holistic approach to therapy supports clients in attuning to all levels of their experience: cognitive, emotional, and physiological.
Many people seek therapy when they can no longer ignore issues stemming from their unmet needs, unresolved conflicts or unexpressed emotions. The suffering generated from these issues can shed light on where an individual’s painful emotions and difficult bodily sensations may be “stuck” or not fully expressed. In our work together, I can help you uncover the habitual patterns that prevent the recognition of the needs, expressions, and emotions that have felt too overwhelming to listen to, process, and transform by yourself.
Through a gentle approach that involves mind and body, I support you in slowing down so that you can notice your emotional experiences and check in with how your nervous system is responding. When you feel triggered, I can help you bring awareness to the sensations and emotions that surface and then guide you back to resources available in the present. This practice of tapping into traumatic material and then coming back to resources in the present progressively expands your window of tolerance, creating an internal landscape that is stable enough to hold the big sensations connected with your emotions.
Cultivating a dual awareness of the past and present while staying anchored in the bodily experience of the present moment can restore your connection to your inner wisdom and deepen your capacity for intimacy. When we release attempts at avoiding discomfort, we free ourselves to pursue new ways of being that aren’t about the absence of suffering, but rather the pursuit of fulfillment and connection, expanding our relational and creative potential.
