Ayurvedic Psychology: Connecting Ayurveda & Polyvagal Theory
Objectives:
- Develop a foundational understanding of Polyvagal Theory, including autonomic nervous system states, neuroception, and how patterns of safety, mobilization, and shutdown influence emotional, cognitive, and behavioral experiences.
- Gain an introduction to Ayurvedic psychology and the gunas, exploring the qualities of sattva, rajas, and tamas and how these energetic patterns shape mental, emotional, and relational experiences.
- Explore the intersections between Ayurveda and Polyvagal Theory, conceptualizing how autonomic nervous system states may parallel Ayurvedic psychological frameworks and provide a more holistic understanding of human experience.
- Develop practical applications for integrating Ayurvedic psychology into clinical and teaching settings, including language, interventions, and practices that support regulation, self-awareness, and movement toward greater balance and wellbeing. in work with clients
This will be an interactive space and will include discussion, case conceptualization, and practical strategies. Participants will receive 1.5 CEU credits through Yoga Alliance, but is open to both yoga teachers and mental health professionals.
