Angelica Hernandez, MA, LPC, NCC, IPT-CST, TCYM | Belonging Counseling
Description
Hi, my name is Angelica Hernandez, but I go by Angie (she/her/ella). I'm a queer Latine licensed professional counselor based in Austin, TX, and the owner of Belonging Counseling. I specialize working with BIPOC x LGBTQIA+ adults and relationships who reside in TX.
My specialty areas include (but are not limited to) shame/vulnerability, substance use, grief and loss, anxiety/depression, intergenerational trauma, family conflict, self-esteem, marital/relationship issues, and identity. *Se ofrece servicios en español.*
Our therapeutic work will be focused around a person-centered theory perspective. I hope to build a positive relationship in which you feel heard and understood in a nonjudgmental and safe space. In turn, I also hope you experience me as a real and authentic person within the room through my use of humor and empathy to build our relationship. In relationships/marriage counseling, my approach is exclusively the Gottman method at this time.
I believe we as humans are the experts of our own internal worlds, and we try to do the best for ourselves in any life situation. We have the power to choose the values in life we want to live by, but it is also important to acknowledge systems out of our control that influence those choices and values.
