Lauren Gastorf, M.Ed., LPC-S
Description
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor located in McKinney, TX. I received by Masters in Counseling from the University of North Texas in 2011. Prior to becoming a counselor, I received my Bachelors degree in Kinesiology from The University of Texas at Austin in 2008. I believe the body is an important part of healing and have focused largely on somatic training in the last few years.
I have a clinical background focusing primarily on trauma, particularly sexual trauma in childhood and domestic violence. I approach therapy from a non-judgmental and curious perspective. I was trained using a humanistic psychology model, where holism, collaboration, creativity, and a focus on discovering your personal strengths and goodness are emphasized.
Theories and approaches I use include trauma-focused therapy, attachment theory, mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), Polyvagal Theory (PVT) and Trauma Conscious Yoga Method (TCYM).
I consider it an honor to accompany people on their wellness journeys. No one person is the same. I celebrate diversity. Please know you will be accepted no matter your background or identity regarding gender, sexuality, culture, religion.
